ORL(3-7) 72 – 81 (5-4) ATL

Key Performers:

A. Horford (ATL): 15 pts, 9 rebs, 3 asts
No One (ORL): They were all really, really bad

I’m pretty sure that watching this game fried my retinas, so excuse me if I have a few spelling errors in this post. If you are in Atlanta and couldn’t watch the game because you don’t have NBATV, don’t feel bad at all. This game was awful.

Reaction Grades: [assessed 0-10]

Al Horford: Had 15 points and nine boards in just 25 minutes. He was easily the best player in the game and is starting to compile a nice résumé towards an All-Star bid. 9/10

Josh Smith: He scored zero points in the first half, was totally terrible, and the game was close. At the start of the second, he wasn’t playing terrible and Atlanta broke out on a huge run. This is not a coincidence. His overall game was still pretty terrible though, and his airballed free throw count on the year has reached four. 3/10

Zaza Pachulia: This game is what the Hawks need to get from Zaza in every game; he rebounded (11 boards), made a couple of shots, and didn’t really make any mistakes. 8/10

Lou Williams: You could’ve competed with Horford for player of the game honors if he wasn’t left out to dry by Larry Drew with the most awful rotation ever in the fourth quarter. 14-3-3-1-1 on efficient shooting is still a good night, though. 8/10

Jeff Teague: The seven assists were nice, but he still has work to do on his passing; a couple of times he missed when his target was wide open. As of right now, he’s near the bottom of the league in turnover-percentage, which is not what you want out of your point guard. 5/10

Ivan Johnson: Well, his 76% field-goal percentage took a bit of a hit, but 4-8 from the floor with nine points and eight rebounds is nice. It was also nice to see Ivan play more than 12 minutes. 7/10

Kyle Korver: He missed a bunch of open shots, but didn’t appear to be a complete liability on defense. So that’s… something? 2/10

Devin Harris: Devin played good! He hit a couple of shots, didn’t turn the ball over, and did some other non-terrible things. He is much more tolerable in this form. 6/10

Anthony Morrow: For an elite three-point shooter, he really didn’t act like it this contest. He did hit one from deep, but it didn’t really look like he was eager to shoot. However, he did post up JJ Redick on one possession, which was hilarious to watch. 4/10

DeShawn Stevenson, Anthony Tolliver, John Jenkins, Mike Scott: Tolliver, Jenkins, and Scott are why the Hawks had to reinsert the starters late in the fourth quarter. Stevenson wasn’t any better when he was on the court. 1/10

Larry Drew: The Magic are terrible. This should not have been a nine-point game. I’m glad that he gave Scott and Jenkins some run, but he cannot just hang them out to dry like that with no one else on the floor that can help them. 4/10

The opposition: They played all kinds of terrible that only the box score can summarize without swearing. 0/10

  1. I was looking for a article to convince a friend to trade me Josh Smith in Fantasy league. After this article Im not sure that he has a bright future for him. Man he has been playing bad this year. I wonder If Atlanta fans are on him as much as us Toronto fans kill bargnani every single day.
