The Atlanta Hawks’ brief two game winning streak came crashing down — in dramatic fashion — against the Detroit Pistons, in Atlanta’s final game at The Palace, 118-95. All five of the Pistons’ starters scored in double digits, led by Reggie Jackson’s 26 points. Andre Drummond also chipped in with 13 points and 17 rebounds. Paul Millsap led the Hawks with 21 points.
First quarter massacre
The Hawks have been prone to a few slow starts this season but last night took it to a whole other level. The Pistons outscored the Hawks 42-18 in the first quarter, the Pistons shooting 61.5% from the field and 6-of-7 from behind the arc.
“They punched us. Punched us hard. We weren’t able to come back from that.” — Paul Millsap
This was the Hawks’ third game in four nights and you could tell that the energy and intensity just wasn’t there. As sluggish as the Hawks were, you have to give the Detroit Pistons a lot of credit. Their intensity and ball movement — an are focus for the Pistons heading into this game was great last night.
