Archives For Glen Davis

The Hawks have waived Jared Cunningham, per a press released from the team.

Cunningham only appeared in five games and scored two total points this season. He had a PER of -1.8 in 22 minutes of play.

The move opens up a roster spot for the Hawks, which they have used to sign Dexter Pittman to a 10-day contract, according to the AJC’s Chris Vivlamore. Pittman will be available tonight against the Knicks, also per Vivlamore. Pittman last played with Miami and Memphis.

RECAP: Hawks 86, Magic 80

ORL(8-13) 80 – 86 (13-6) ATL

Key Performers:

J. Smith (ATL): 16 pts, 11 rebs, 3 asts, 5 blks
A. Afflalo (ORL): 16 pts, 3 rebs, 4 asts

The Hawks did that thing again where they let the opposing team stay in the game longer than they should, but they really ended up with a pretty easy win. The team ended up 6-22 from three, which is one of their worst performances from behind the arc so far this season. Korver was the only one making his threes, unless you count Zaza’s three-quarters court heave that didn’t count. The win moves Atlanta to 13-6 and gives them a bit of a cushion over the 4th seed in the East.

Reaction Grades: [assessed 0-10]

Josh Smith: Josh was absolutely brilliant defensively, but he missed a few baskets in the paint that he probably should have made. He settled for a couple of jumpers late when the team’s offense was a mess, but his 11 rebounds and five blocks somewhat make up for that. 8/10

Al Horford: This was his seventh consecutive double-double (13 points and 13 boards), but his jumper is still broken. He could easily be averaging 20 points a game if he was shooting like he was two seasons ago. Hopefully his shot will start to come back to him. 8/10

Zaza Pachulia: He was a team-worst minus-15 for the game, which is strange, because he didn’t play that terrible. He hit that memorable 60-footer that didn’t count, which got him going at the beginning of the fourth, but then the team went stagnant when he was on the floor. Still, today was one of those games where you think to yourself, “Zaza can never leave Atlanta.” 6/10

Jeff Teague: Jeff still needs to work on his turnover issues. He gets careless and then commits the most random turnovers, which is extremely frustrating because it is an easy problem to fix. Otherwise, he had a strong game with 16 points, 3 assists, and 3 steals. 7/10

Lou Williams: I’m becoming a bit of a broken record with this, but the Hawks can’t just stop running an offense when Lou is at the point. Sure, he can be very dynamic when he’s got his game going, but if he’s just average, there’s no reason for him to be burning that much of the clock. 7/10 Continue Reading…
